Table Mountain

My favorite place that I have been to in South Africa is Table Mountain. The mountain is just over 1 kilometer high and provides a spectacular view of the entire city of Cape Town and the ocean. It is one of my favorite places to hike, as I have done many times, because there are many scenic routes. Its distinct flat top makes it a unique landmark and it features on both the old city of Cape Town logo and the new one.

If you are not the type of person who enjoys hiking there are alternative methods of getting to the top. There is a cable car and there is a jeep path for cars that have been approved. For some cool Table Mountain facts visit here.

V&A Waterfront

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town is a nice place for chilling on weekends. There is many ways to spend your time and it is also a top tourist destination in Cape Town. There is a lot of things to look at and do. There is also a shopping mall and all kinds of attractions on water.

Simon's Town

Simon's Town is a small coastal town built around the South African Naval Base found by its harbour. The harbour and naval base are the two things that make Simon's Town interesting for me. There is a lot of nice restaurants in the area. There is plenty of exciting things to do off land such as whale watching, shark cage diving and yacht or boat tours. The naval base has an old submarine that has been made into a museum that is worth checking out.

Kristenbosch Gardens

Kristenbosch Botanical Gardens is one of South Africa's nine National Botanical Gardens. It is on the slopes of Table Mountain. The mountain adds to the natural beauty of the gardens.

I enjoy Kristenbosch because of its scenic view but there are many other interesting things that can be found there. The Centenary Tree Canopy Walkway, which was opened last year, is a stunning new feature. The flora and fauna are another reason to visit the gardens. There are many species of birds and insects. There are indigenous trees, flowers and fynbos along with species found in other parts of the world. There is a tea room, plenty of trails and even a couple routes up Table Mountain.

Kristenbosch Gardens is another cool and beautiful place to go to in South Africa.

Boulders Beach

Boulders beach is a small beach near Cape Town that is home to a colony of  around 3000 African penguins. Though the beach is okay the penguins are the main reason why it is one of the coolest places in South Africa.

Cape Agulhas

Located at the most southern point of Africa,Cape Agulhas is both a cool place to go to and a beautiful tourist destination. Since it is also the official border between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The water here is warm like the Indian Ocean and I would recommend  a visit for casual swimmers.
